The trip is part of the US-Canada Free Trade Agreement.

Costa Rican tourists have been visiting the US more frequently in recent years, with the number of visits rising from a low of 6,500 in 2012 to nearly 20,000 in 2017.
Costa Rica’s tourism industry is expected to grow by more than 15 percent in 2020.
