Travel agent Kairos Travel Agency is shutting down and its customers are being left with the cost of their travel, with one family losing more than $50 million.
The travel agency has been operating since 2005 and is located in Omaha, Nebraska.
It had a budget of about $200 million and operated its business under the name Kairos Inc., according to its website.
The family’s lawyers filed the bankruptcy filing Thursday.
Their attorney, David Tippett, told Omaha’s KSL-TV that the family will use the money to pay for other travel expenses.
He said the family is looking for new opportunities, including a partnership.
A representative for Kairos did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
